Preventing IT Problems in the summer
Though we are working in the air-conditioned offices, the
heatwave can still affect the computer equipment. The computer already
generates heat when it is switched on. Therefore, if there is additional heat
affecting the computer, it can create major issues. The internal components of
computer are mostly made of high-quality materials but these components can
still expand in heat and eventually fail.
Many people love summer but when the heat starts affecting
their work life, they start hating their favorite weather. Whether it is a
workstation or a laptop, systems heat up and they need to be dealt carefully.
Many people use laptops for work due to their portability feature. You can take
your laptop anywhere and perform work. The laptops are relatively delicate
systems and these should not be taken for granted. You can lose all your
important data is laptop shuts down on its own after heating up and it does not
switch on again. You should always use your laptop in optimum weather
conditions and stable interior temperature. Otherwise, your CPU, hard drive,
cables and other components can be affected.
IT Support and Services can guide you how to take
care of your laptops and workstations in intense summer heat. These tips and
guidelines include following.
Stay Away From the Sunlight
You should prefer sitting away from windows. If your cabin
is near a window then make sure that the sunlight does not fall directly on
your laptop or the computer. Direct sunlight can definitely overheat your
computer and damage its components.
The windows are normally covered with blinds or curtains.
You should keep them closed during the day time. Moreover, move to any other
corner of the room if possible and stay out of direct sunlight.
Keep You Air Conditioner in Good Condition
The offices should always be air conditioned if you are
working in a region where temperature can go as high as 40 degrees centigrade
or more. The computers work best in a comparatively colder room with
temperature below 23 degrees centigrade. Similarly, if you are carrying your
laptop in the car then keep it in a shaded place. Moreover, it should be
switched off and covered in the laptop bag.
Ventilation
Your laptop and computer should be placed in a place where
it has easy access of airflow and ventilation. If you place all the devices
close to each other then the airflow will be blocked and system will start heating
up. The servers as well as CPU need to be kept cool at all times. Even though
laptops have fans underneath them, they still need space for ventilation. A
laptop should not be placed on a leather or fabric-based seat, knee or any
other place which blocks the fans. Laptops should only be placed on flat
surfaces to keep them safe from potential overheating.
If your laptop or system fan is making continuously on then
it means the system is overheating.
Unplugging Extra Devices
When you are at work, you have printers, scanners and other
devices switched on all the time. It is better to unplug the equipment which is
not in use. A plugged on electric equipment will keep generating heat even if
it is not in use. Similarly, if your device is fully charged then remove the
charger as chargers can also overheat and affect the battery. IT Services
Provider Paris will advise you to remove the charger from laptop as well as
your mobile phone after these are fully charges. Moreover, try to keep the
number of equipment and devices in your office at minimum.
